Operation with dispensing

 

When a utility is opened on the water supply, the spring force becomes prevalent over the opposing force of the diaphragm; the plug moves downward, opening the passage to water. The greater the demand for water, the greater the decrease in pressure under the diaphragm, thus causing a higher fluid passage through the plug.

 

Operation without supply

 

When the utility is completely closed, the downstream pressure rises and pushes the diaphragm upward. In this way, the plug closes, preventing the passage of fluid and keeping the pressure constant at the set value. A slight difference to the advantage of the force exerted by the diaphragm against that exerted by the spring causes the device to close.
