Installation standards: The module is designed to be mounted on IEC EN 60715 omega rail, either vertically or directly on the wall. For optimum operation and durability, ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid mounting the module above heat-generating equipment.

Installation on omega rail:

  • Insert the three hooks of the omega rail mount into the corresponding three holes in the back of the enclosure.
  • Now, to secure the module in the omega rail, hook the holder into the rail. Alternatively, the holder has two holes that press the SD-GSM 0-16/A72 into the wall using two screws.

Antenna insertion: Caution: before turning on the module, screw the supplied antenna to the SMA socket on the top side of the module.

Power on/off button and display scroll button: The SD-GSM 0-16/A72 is equipped with the PWR button, located on the upper left side. Pressing this button allows the module to be turned on and off. To turn off, press and hold the PWR button for a few seconds. In addition, the SD-GSM 0-16/A72 is equipped with the SCR button, located in the upper right corner. Pressing this button allows scrolling display of parameters on the display.

USB Port and ANTENNA Power: The SD-GSM 0-16/A72 has a mini-USB connector on the left side of the case, which can be used to configure the SD-GSM 0-16/A72, to perform firmware upgrades, and to recharge the internal battery from a PC. Alternatively, you can recharge the internal battery of the SD-GSM 0-16/A72 with a power supply connected to the USB input or with the supplied power supply connected to the + and - (GND) terminals.

Remarks on the operation of the SD-GSM 0-16/A72: Auto power off. If the display of the SD-GSM 0-16/A72 indicates "LOW BATT", it means that the internal battery is almost empty: after 60 seconds from this indication, the SD-GSM 0-16/A72 will automatically turn off. To restore the battery charge to a proper value, power the SDGSM 0-16/A72 using one of the cables recommended in this manual.

USB cable power supply: Powering the SD-GSM 0-16/A72 using the USB port is not suitable for fixed installations, or otherwise installations where relays and/or digital inputs are used. In such cases, power the SD-GSM 0-16/A72 with the 12 VDC power supply (supplied).

Terminal Block: The SD-GSM 0-16/A72 has a terminal block on the inside of the case. To use the terminals, lift up and remove the cap located at the bottom of the SD-GSM 0-16/A72. In the figure opposite, the cap has been removed.

IMPORTANT: Mobile wiring of the cables inserted and exiting the terminals is not allowed. To arrange the cables coming out of the terminals neatly and safely, take advantage of the breakable passages at the rear of the enclosure. When the wiring is completed, reposition the cap in the SD-GSM 0-16/A72 to protect the cables from any accidental contact.

The SD-GSM 0-16/A72 has a SIM card input located on the right side of the enclosure. To insert the SIM card into the corresponding connector, make sure it is oriented with the metal contacts facing left. The SD-GSM 0-16/A72 has an SD card input that can be used for updating the firmware of the SD-GSM 0-16/A72. The micro SD card input is located on the right side of the case. To insert the SD card into the corresponding connector, make sure it is oriented with the metal contacts facing left.

The SD-GSM 0-16/A72 has digital inputs, digital relay outputs and a +12 V output available from the terminals. The terminal block is inside the case and can be used by lifting the cover at the bottom. To connect a wire into a terminal block, insert the stripped part of the wire directly into the hole, exerting sufficient pressure (then making sure it is secured properly).

For thin cables, use a screwdriver with a slotted tip:

  • insert the tip of the screwdriver into the diagonal slot of the clamp button
  • press the screwdriver downward
  • while holding down the clamp button with the screwdriver, insert the cable into the hole
  • release the screwdriver
  • To remove a cable, it is necessary to press the screwdriver downward into the diagonal slot while pulling the cable out
