They are designed fordisconnection of power lines according to IEC EN 60947-3, allowing for safe maintenance of downstream connected devices, and for control under load. They are also equipped with a plumbable control lever in both positions.
For proper operation, upstream protection with devices against short circuit and overload (fuses, circuit breakers) is required.
The disconnect switch, otherwise called the voltage disconnect switch, has the same as a circuit breaker, but on a larger scale: it is, in fact, responsible for shutting off the flow of power to the electrical distribution stations. This is mainly to ensure the safety of the power plant and primarily of the people working inside it since one of its special features is to separate the flow of energy from the working environments. Another special feature of this instrument is its ability to be able to detect defects in the electrical flow and isolate them. When the defect is then corrected, the disconnector will make the current flow normally again.
