The pure earth leakage pure residual current circuit breaker serves to protect people and not installations. The moment a person touches it, it creates a circuit with the earth. The current instead of staying in the home circuit, uses the human body to go to ground.
The residual current circuit breaker, also called circuit breaker, is a device in your electrical system. It is able to open the circuit, i.e. to interrupt the supply of energy, when the current is accidentally lost.
A pure residual current circuit breaker offers protection in case of current leakage but not in case of overvoltage. For this type of problem, a circuit breaker is required instead.
The Type Fcircuit breakers introduced by the recent product standard CEI EN 62423, guarantee effective protection against indirect contacts in the presence of loads equipped with single-phase frequency converters.
From a technical and performance point of view, they are positioned between type A and B residual current circuit breakers.
The residual current circuit breakerstype F are specially developed for protection against indirect contacts, when using appliances equipped with single-phase frequency inverters such as, for example, heat pumps and washing machines. In the event of a ground fault in the inverter they produce differential fault currents at varying frequencies, which AC and A type earth leakage circuit breakers cannot detect.
