DGS-1008P is an economical way to take advantage of the bandwidth benefits of Gigabit Ethernet for SOHO and SMB users. It provides 8 Gigabit ports for fast server application so it can meet growing network loads.

It offers home and office users the ability to easily connect and power Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices such as access points (APs), IP cameras and IP phones. It also offers the opportunity to add additional Ethernet devices such as computers, printers and network attached storage (NAS) to the network. This compact PoE switch operates silently, making it ideal for use in virtually any room or office.

All ports support MDI/MDIX cross-over Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for cross-over Ethernet cables or Uplink ports. Each port can be connected directly to a server, hub, router, or switch using regular direct or twisted pair through Ethernet cables.

TheDGS-1008P uses D-Link Green™ technology, which offers energy savings, lower power consumption and longer product life without sacrificing performance or operational functionality. This switch helps conserve power through methods such as link status and cable length detection. The link status function automatically removes power from ports that are not connected, thus saving significant amounts of power through bypassing unused ports. It can also detect the lengths of connected cables and adjust power usage accordingly. In addition, fanless operation extends product life and reduces noise.

The first four ports of DGS-1008P support the IEEE 802.3af PoE protocol. Each of these four ports can provide up to 15.4 watts, for a total PoE of 52 watts. This allows users to connect an IEEE 802.3af-compliant device to the DGS-1008P that does not require additional power. Use PoE for applications away from electrical outlets or when you want to minimize clutter from extra cables.

Compact and quiet: The compact design of the DGS-1008P allows placement in most places, including those where space is limited. The desktop form factor provides everything needed to set up a new network or expand an existing network, while the fanless design ensures quiet operation even in noise-sensitive workstations and meeting rooms.
