NH fuses with an operating class aM are used especially for motor protection and, unlike gG types, are capable of interrupting only currents between a certain value of overcurrent and that corresponding to its interrupting power value.
This feature is essential when high inrush currents are involved. However, the use of additional protective devices (e.g., thermal overload relays) in back-up is recommended for the protection of overcurrents below Kln. Special solutions adopted on the melting strips of our NH aM fuses allow high resistance against aging caused by motor heating processes.
