The Edimax Pro GS-3008P is a long-range web-smart switch with 4 Gigabit PoE+ ports. Designed for small office and home office network environments, its desktop form factor allows integration into the most used SMB offices. With intelligent web management, the PoE (Power over Ethernet) ports can be manually configured to extend the PoE power delivery distance up to 200 meters, while also supporting intelligent control for VLAN (Virtual LAN), QoS (Quality of Service) and IGMP (Internet Group). The GS-3008P features 4 IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE+) ports providing up to 30 W of power per port and has a total power budget of 72 W to power any 802.3at or 802.3af compliant power device. With the PoE detection capability, the GS-3008P can verify if the connected device is IEEE 802.3at or 802.3af compliant. In case a PoE device is not detected, only network data will be transmitted via the LAN cable. In addition, with the PoE backfeed protection from passive PoE injectors, the GS-3008P is able to avoid damaging the PoE ports.

Power over Ethernet technology allows the Ethernet cable to carry both data and power, reducing cable installation and eliminating the need for extension cords or electrical outlets on walls and ceilings. Overall, the GS-3008P can reduce installation costs and simplify the deployment effort. The GS-3008P can be used with a variety of PoE products such as access points, IP cameras or VoIP devices and is an effective solution for network environments where access to power outlets is difficult.

The GS-3008P provides extended PoE power at distances up to 200 meters, while a general PoE has restrictions on the Ethernet cable distance of 100 meters. For a power delivery distance of 200 meters, the unit operates on a per-port basis with 10 Mbps duplex operation and supports a PoE power output of up to 30 watts.
